First of all, this post was delayed for a week, due to me having workload which means writing this post at all is impossible during that time. Now, I have a chance to write, and here it is. Apologies for the no-post last week.

When you hear, or read, the word “princess,” the first thing you may think is the daughter of a noble family, or perhaps a girl acting like she’s the most important person in the world. Or, perhaps, someone terribly spoiled. That’s the common stereotype, right? Well, my fourth original character here is… no exception. Except for a few thing, which will be described here in this post, as this will be about the pink-haired spoiled princess: Reina Fujibayashi.

Looking at my original post, it feels nostalgic that I get to see Julis and Stella again. They are the princess of two different anime titles with similar theme, one that I once wrote a post about. Now, while personality of Reina can be similar to those two, she is unique for a number of things.

First things first, though, she has undergone changes in her appearance. Have a look.

Major change, as usual. If before, she looks like an immature kid who just woke up on a Tuesday afternoon, her new look makes her look like a confident and smug princess. Good progress on character development, I’d say. Her personality, though, hasn’t changed that much.

I may seek attention from everyone, but it is not of my wish to be witnessed as an attention-seeker.

I repeated the word “princess” quite a lot here, but Reina is… not really one. She may be part of the respected Fujibayashi household, but it’s not a noble family. Her family is simply a wealthy family who hold strong traditional Japanese value. Naturally, she should have been seen as a yamato nadeshiko; the image of a perfect woman. Instead, she becomes a high-and-mighty princess. She’s highly conservative about tradition; she wouldn’t wear modern fabrics, nor will she eat foods that aren’t Japanese. She has a bleak view on modern cultures, and believes that modesty should be uphold in current society. Still, at the end of the day, she is, obviously, a girl. She can fall in love, too. Despite her bragging attitudes, she doesn’t do so to gain attention of the one she loves. Aside from her lover, she also sees Aoi as the example of an ideal woman.

Reina believes that a proper woman should be modest, committed, and strong-willed; a stark contrast to her personality. She may be loud-mouthed, brash, and ridiculous with her demands, which makes her rather unbearable at times, but behind that attitude lies her desire to be noticed by people. At times, she became loud so that people will look at her, and she likes the attention given to her, even if it’s for a moment. Despite that, she doesn’t like to be seen as, in internet language, an attention w**re. She’s aware of whatever rumors about her is being spoken around. She’s conscious about what people are talking about her, and she’s very worried if those rumors are talking about her in a bad light. In this situation, she becomes a modest girl who would act accordingly to the situation.

As someone conservative about tradition, Reina likes everything traditional. She prefers kimono over dresses. She prefers sushi over steak. She prefers dango over gateau cakes. Understandably, she prefers 80s music over 2020s, and predictably, she prefers Japanese culture over Western trends. She will try to speak foreign language, but for her, her native language remains the one to speak in. She tends to watch movies, but only if said movie is on a traditional Japanese landscape. As such, she likes watching samurai movie over anything else, particularly if it’s about loyalty between master and pupil.

To Reina, Aoi is the ideal woman that represent her vision of yamato nadeshiko; the epitome of what makes the perfect woman. Aoi’s quiet, stoic, and hard-to-sway attitude but kind, caring, and modest personality drew Reina to Aoi. She admires her so much, she calls her “Aoi nee-san,” despite the fact Reina is a year older than Aoi. Reina cherishes Aoi just as much as she cherishes her lover. She does not differentiate her attitude towards her lover to any other people, but deep down, she loves them that she entrust her household name to them.

…If only she can be a bit less unbearable…

That’s it for today’s post. Hopefully I can make it in time to post the next and last reintroduction of the current OCs. Workloads can be a lot… Still pondering whether I should extend my contract should they offer one soon.

And on that note, it’s time to end. See you next time!
